Strapping
Common strapping materials include steel, polypropylene (PP), and polyester (PET), each chosen based on strength requirements, cost, and application. Steel straps offer high tensile strength for heavy loads, while plastic straps provide flexibility and corrosion resistance for lighter packages.
Bundling Automatic Strapping Machine
A heavy-duty industrial device used to secure packages, boxes, or groups of products together using plastic or steel straps. Unlike manual or semi-automatic tools, these machines automate the entire feeding, tensioning, sealing, and cutting process, making them critical for high-volume packaging lines.
Features & Characteristics
- The Arch (or Chute): This is the defining feature of an automatic machine. The size of the arch dictates the maximum dimensions of the package that can be strapped.
- Tension Control: Electronic or mechanical tension adjustments allow operators to secure fragile items gently or heavy bundles tightly without damaging the product.
- Auto-Loop Ejector: If the machine is accidentally cycled without a package in place, advanced models will safely eject the empty loop to prevent jamming.
- Speed: Designed for rapid throughput, these machines can easily apply 25 to 65 straps per minute, depending on the model and package size.
Applications & Usage
- Feeding & Positioning: A package or bundle moves along a conveyor belt and passes through the machine’s “arch” (the large rectangular frame).
- Strapping: Sensor switches detect the package, triggering the machine to rapidly feed the strapping material out of the arch and wrap it around the bundle.
- Tensioning & Sealing: The machine pulls the strap tight to a pre-set tension. It then heat-welds or friction-fuses the overlapping strap ends together.
- Cutting: The excess strap is cleanly cut away, and the machine immediately pre-feeds the next loop into the arch for the next cycle.
