Carton Sealer Automatic Water Activated
An automatic water-activated carton sealer is a packaging machine designed to securely seal corrugated boxes using water-activated tape. It operates by automatically feeding the carton into the machine, where water-activated tape is applied to the seams of the box, ensuring a strong and tamper-evident seal. This type of sealer enhances efficiency and consistency in packaging processes, making it ideal for shipping and distribution centers.
Features & Characteristics
- Water Activation & Heating: Includes a built-in water tank and heater (often to 110°F) to accelerate glue dissolution for faster, more stable adhesion.
- High-Speed Throughput: Capable of sealing at speeds around 20 meters per minute, processing 10–12 cases per minute depending on size.
- Automatic Adjustment: Many “random” models use sensors or pneumatic systems to automatically detect and adjust to varying carton heights and widths without manual intervention.
- Large Roll Capacity: Supports large tape rolls (up to 4,500 feet) to minimize downtime for roll changes.
- Flexible Sealing Modes: Features selectable modes for top and bottom, top-only, or bottom-only sealing.
Applications & Usage
- Preparation: Load a roll of water-activated kraft paper tape and ensure the water reservoir is filled. High-end models feature large water tanks to minimize downtime.
- Machine Adjustment:
- Uniform Models: Require manual adjustment of height and width guides for a single box size.
- Random Models: Use sensors to automatically detect and adjust to varying carton sizes in real-time, ideal for diverse e-commerce fulfillment.
- Tape Activation: As the carton is fed into the machine, the system automatically unwinds the tape and passes it through a moistening unit. Some machines use a heated wetting system to speed up glue melting for a more stable seal.
- Application & Cutting: The machine applies the wet tape to the top and/or bottom seams of the Regular Slotted Container (RSC). Precision blades cut the tape to the exact required length, which is then pressed down by rollers to ensure a tamper-evident seal.
