Strapping

Common strapping materials include steel, polypropylene (PP), and polyester (PET), each chosen based on strength requirements, cost, and application. Steel straps offer high tensile strength for heavy loads, while plastic straps provide flexibility and corrosion resistance for lighter packages.

Manual Sealless Portable Strapping Tool

A Manual Portable Sealless Strapping Tool is a handheld, mechanical device used to tension, seal, and cut steel strapping around heavy packages, pallets, or crates. Unlike traditional strapping setups that require separate tools (a tensioner and a sealer) and consumable metal seals, these devices consolidate the entire process into a single, fluid operation.

Features & Characteristics

  • Sealless Joint: Eliminates the need for separate metal seals, reducing costs and preventing seal failure.
  • Combination Tool: Performs tensioning, sealing, and cutting in one unit, improving efficiency.
  • Lightweight & Portable: Typically weighs between 3.5kg and 4.4kg, allowing for easy handling in various industrial environments.
  • High Tension Capacity: Capable of generating up to \(6000\text{N}\) of tension, suitable for heavy-duty applications.
  • Versatile Compatibility: Works with standard and high-tensile steel straps (13mm, 16mm, 19mm).
  • Durable Design: Built with robust materials (e.g., stainless steel) for long-term use with minimal maintenance.
  • Ergonomic Operation: Designed to be used on both horizontal and vertical surfaces for items like pallets and crates.

Applications & Usage

  • Prepare the Strap: Wrap the steel strap around the package, ensuring the two ends overlap on top of the pack. The end from the dispenser (top strap) should be on top of the end attached to the object (bottom strap).
  • Load the Tool: Squeeze the handles together to open the tool’s gripper and cutter. Insert both layers of the overlapped strapping into the tool, ensuring they are flush against the guide.
  • Tension the Strap: Move the tensioning handle (usually the rear lever) back and forth to tighten the strap around the package until the desired tension is achieved.
  • Seal and Cut: Move the sealing lever (usually front or top lever) forward in one smooth motion. This action creates a notch joint (sealless crimp) and cuts the excess strap, completing the seal without a metal seal.
  • Release the Tool: Squeeze the handles again to open the tool and slide it sideways off the completed, sealed strap.
