Strapping
Common strapping materials include steel, polypropylene (PP), and polyester (PET), each chosen based on strength requirements, cost, and application. Steel straps offer high tensile strength for heavy loads, while plastic straps provide flexibility and corrosion resistance for lighter packages.
Side Seal Semi-auto Strapping Machine
A Side Seal Semi-Automatic Strapping Machine is a specialized packaging unit designed to secure boxes, cartons, or bundles with plastic strapping (usually PP or PET).
Unlike standard tabletop strapping machines where the sealing mechanism sits directly underneath the package, a side seal machine places the heating and sealing element on the side of the unit.
Features & Characteristics
- Side-Mounted Sealing Head: Keeps the sealing mechanism away from dropping debris, dust, and liquids, vastly reducing maintenance needs and improving reliability.
- Low Profile Strapping: Perfect for packages or conveyors that sit low to the ground or for heavy items that are difficult to lift onto standard tabletops.
- Adjustable Table Height: Allows operators to customize the working height (usually ranging between 400 mm and 850 mm) for optimal ergonomics.
- User-Friendly Controls: Features simple push-button, foot-pedal, or sensor-activated cycling with easily adjustable tension and cooling times.
- High Versatility: Compatible with multiple strap widths—typically 8mm to 15.5mm Polypropylene (PP) or Polyester (PET) straps.
- Mobility: Built-in locking casters allow the machine to be moved around the warehouse or production floor easily
Applications & Usage
- Power On: Turn on the machine and allow the sealing plate to heat up (usually 1–2 minutes).
- Adjust Tension & Feed: Set your desired strap tension and length using the machine’s control panel.
- Place the Package: Set your item on the work table. Adjust the table’s height so the side of your package aligns with the strap channel.
- Feed the Strap: Pull the strap from the spool, loop it over/around your package, and insert the end into the side slot.
- Machine Cycle: The machine automatically grabs the strap, pulls it to the precise tension, melts the ends together to form a seal, cuts the excess, and feeds the next length of strap for the following use.
